The iconic Argentinian restaurant Anahi is located on a non descript Marais backstreet in Paris was created over 20 years ago by sisters Carmina and Pilar until they decided to retire and sell the business to French entrepreneur Cédric Naudon. The light makeover by Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet, is minimal as interventions go and not only leaves the historic interior intact – the Art Deco glass painted ceiling and globe lights are original – but preserves the kintsugi-style copper crack work added by Maud Bury during the previous makeover. Anahi is a cosy place whose original lively Argentinian bistro aura has been tamed to welcome Paris’ well-heeled foodies, but whose roots, despite its chic new interiors remain very much in place.
