Classic Japanese materials such as timber, Washi paper and stone are blended to great effect with modern technology and luxurious fabrics. Filtered light contrasts with solid elements, creating a subtle interplay of shadow and light fundamental to the design and ambiance of the hotel. The inner garden is surrounded by a veranda or engawa, which leads to the dining and lounge areas. This term traditionally refers to a wooden space between the garden and living areas in traditional homes, and the concept has been incorporated into the hotel’s guest rooms and suites.
