An old power plant, built in 1911 were restored and turned into a Museum in 2007. It was the first urban scale power plant of Ottoman Empire. Founded in the Golden Horn district, the old Industrial Zone of Istanbul it provided electricity to the city from 1911 til 1983. Apart from Energy Museum, Santral Istanbul has spaces for contemporary artistic and cultural activities, public library and cafes and restaurants.
