The Dutch, New York, USA

Located on the corner of Prince and Sullivan Streets in SoHo, the Dutch has three main dining areas, all white brick and rubbed wood and high-gloss ceiling paint, with comfortable seats and good sconces and chandeliers throwing beautiful light. Chef Andrew Carmellini is cooking what he calls American food, like a seasonal green market salad; a deluxe steak with a tower of shellfish; tasty sandwiches; flavorful curry or chili; homey fried chicken and fresh pie or something altogether surprising and new.
